Our thinking (believe)
drives our actions (behave)

Being a product of the 'intsitutional church'... I like (and look for) language/expressions that counter my institutional thinking. I stumbled upon this one:    "It is not the church of God that has a mission in the world, but the God of mission who has a church in the world." (Got one...? Thoughts?)

This is a great quote and it challenges us to rethink who is in charge of the church. another that is very similiar but causes controversy is "that it is not the name of Jesus but the one who gave him his name that is important". Indeed this can be taken out of context but I think it needs to reminds us that the name of Jesus is just a name the real power is in the one who gave him the name and the one who conqured death.

When interpreting the "church of God that has a mission in the world", I see the church emphasized as having more power/influence that God himself, almost as if the church is directing God's actions, and we know that it is the complete opposite, or at least it should be. It helps to remember that it is the God of mission that has a church in the world.

Thanks to Him that He does have a mission, otherwise where would we be?

Manny - I agree... and to build on that - a Hebrew name (Yeshua - "God saves") was a prophetic word about the person the name was given to. God's mission - is announced loud and clear - in the name of His Son! (way cool!)

Yeah Brendon... that is why I liked the quote - it was so God-centered. Everything begins and ends with God. Keeping that as a mind-set is so liberating!
